Dear Mr. Gaskins:

This is iƻ response to your letter of May 15, 1973 in

which you request an interpretation of Section 23 of the Con­

sumGr Product Sofety Act, relating to litigation between private

parties.

It 1·:ould r.ot be apptop:·iate for this CcrƼ;,iission to

coITTr?nt on the provisions of Section 23 as it does not directly

involve the functions of the Consumer Product Safety Ccƽrnission.

I understand your concern with interpreting the new Act.
