Text

Assistance with self-administration of medication or controlled drugs is the act of assisting a client with one or more steps in the process of taking medication or controlled drugs, but not the actual administration of medication or controlled drugs. Assistance with self-administration of medication or controlled drugs involves:

(1) Opening the medication or controlled drug container;

(2) Reminding the client of the proper time to take the medication or controlled drug;

(3) Helping to remove the medication or controlled drug from the container; and

(4) Returning the medication or controlled drug container to storage.
