Text

(A) Judges shall be faithful to the law and maintain professional competence

in it. Judges shall not be swayed by partisan interests, public clamor or

intimidation, or fear of criticism.

(B) Judges shall not permit family, social, political, financial, or other interests

or relationships to influence the judge’s judicial conduct or judgment.

(C) Judges shall not convey or enable others to convey the impression that any

person or organization is in a position to influence the judge.

Commentary:

To ensure that judges are available to fulfill their judicial duties, judges

must conduct their personal and extrajudicial activities to minimize the risk of

conflict that would result in frequent disqualification. See Rule 2.11.
