The rule that statutes in derogation of the common law shall be strictly construed shall have no application to this section and §§ 9-11-509 - 9-11-514 . Acts 1875 (Adj. Sess.), No. 91, § 6, p. 172; C. & M. Dig., § 5596; Pope's Dig., § 7246; Acts 1981, No. 873, § 11; A.S.A. 1947, § 55-414
