Text

(a) Priority. Juvenile court proceedings have priority over other proceedings, except as otherwise provided by law. (b) Informality. Juvenile court proceedings must be conducted as informally as the requirements of due process and fairness allow. (c) Order of Trial. A trial under these rules proceeds like the trial of an action by the court sitting without a jury, except that in a delinquency or an incorrigibility proceeding, the juvenile may not be compelled to be a witness. (d) Applicability of Other Rules of Procedure. The Civil, Civil Appellate, Criminal, Family Law, Probate, Protective Order, and Supreme Court Rules are applicable only as specifically set forth or incorporated by reference in these rules.
