WICHITA TRIBAL SMOKE SHOP & FUEL STATION

Job Description

Position: Cashier/Gas Station Attendant

FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt

Location: Anadarko, Oklahoma

Wage Status: Hourly

Shift: Days, Evenings, Weekends,

Holidays as needed.

Reports to: Manager

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing the gas pumps, and

maintaining the cleanliness of the station. Oversee sale of gasoline and retail items.

Requires strong organizational skills, and must be able to work independently. All

functions will be performed within guidelines of the Wichita Tribe Industrial

Development Commission policies and procedures, minimum Internal Control

Standards and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The following is a list of the main duties/responsibilities.

Other duties are assigned by reporting senior.

●​ Maintains a thorough, working knowledge of all state and federal laws, rules and

regulations pertaining to tobacco, the sale of tobacco products and gasoline, as well as the

Wichita Tribe Industrial Development Commission Personnel Policies and Procedures, and

Internal Control Procedures.

●​ Checking identification when required by state law in order to prevent underage purchases

of tobacco products.

●​ Accurately handles cash and credit card transactions.

●​ Able to operate the Point of Sales Register to total guests' purchases and

accurately balance the cash drawer on a daily basis.

●​ Maintains inventory and displays within assigned area to merchandising

standards by stocking, facing, straightening, and cleaning or any other task

necessary to maintain appearance of salability of items.

●​ Maintaining the facilities and performing general maintenance tasks as needed,

such as regularly checking the gas pump service islands and ensuring that paper

towels and windshield cleaning supplies are in stock.

●​ Maintain cleanliness of the booth by dusting, vacuuming, etc.

●​ Maintains a clean, safe and organized work environment at all times.

●​ Keeps inside and outside of property clear of garbage and mess.

●​ Clear away gas and oil spills with a neutralizing agent and rid of material

appropriately.

●​ Notify manager about damaged equipment.

●​ Monitor the self- service pumps and assist customers as needed.

●​ Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.

●​ Assists customers with questions or concerns. Resolves customer complaints in a

timely and efficient manner.

●​ Receive and process deliveries of merchandise.

●​ Accurately note spoilage or damage of any/all items carried in stock.

●​ Assist manager with inventory.

●​ Prepare daily deposits, Loomis deposits and the daily cash audit packets.

●​ Assist Manager with the delivery of fuel and ordering additional supplies as

needed.

●​ Provide customers with information about current fuel prices.

●​ Maintain a positive, friendly and caring attitude with guests and co-workers.

●​ Instill and demonstrate a calm, organized approach in all situations.

●​ Solicits sales of new or additional products.

●​ Maintains a professional appearance reflective of the Wichita Tribe Industrial

Development Commission image and conduct behavior in a mature and

professional manner.

●​ Responsible for servicing, stocking and troubleshooting Smoke Shop Vending

Machines.

●​ Performs all other duties to be assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

●​ Must be 18 years or older.

●​ Must possess effective communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

●​ Must be extremely numbers-oriented and computer-literate.

●​ Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable

accommodations.

●​ Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and

memos.

●​ High School diploma or GED required.

●​ Excellent customer service skills.

●​ Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.

●​ Must have reliable transportation.

●​ Minimum of one-year cash handling experience.

●​ Proven ability to work with numbers and cash accurately.

●​ Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

●​ Able to work independently with minimum supervision.

●​ Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

LANGUAGE/REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents, such as policy and

procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to

write effective reports and memos. Ability to respond to inquiries from employees or

guests. Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one, small group, and large group

situations. Ability to apply common sense reasoning to a variety of situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole

numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent

and to interpret data from graphs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and

walk. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel reach

with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance;

stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.

The employee must frequently lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift

and/ or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include

close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and

ability to adjust focus. Position holder will need to read and interpret uncommon signage

and/ or labeling. Position holder will be expected to be able to adequately and

independently evaluate all factors affecting the quality of vendor products.

The employee regularly works with money and/ or product inventory. The noise level in

the work environment is usually loud. Employees may be exposed to gas fumes and will
