LIHEAP and other assistance programs for
those who qualify.
In my pursuit of accountability and transparency, there have been several incidences
that have occurred since I last wrote. I feel it
is incumbent on me to impart to the Pawnee
People that are of much concern to our Constitution and state of our Nation.
At the August 14 Pawnee Business Council
meeting, it came out that Treasurer Angela
Thompson admitted to accepting over fifty
alleged illegal payments during her last three
years seated on the Pawnee Tribal Development Corporation as a Board member of the
TDC. The Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma Committees and Commissions Handbook, Section
5.0 - Stipends, Section 5.2 states, Members of
the Pawnee Business Council will not receive
stipends for service on boards, committees or
commissions or any other compensation.
Further, she stated that she ultimately felt she
‘deserved’ the alleged illegal payments. Two
days after the council meeting, staff Attorney
General Don Mason ‘unilaterally’ suspended
me from office after staging a scene outside
of the tribal offices with Council Treasurer
Thompson involved. I felt this was in retaliation for notifying the Council of Treasurer
Thompson’s alleged illicit deeds.
On August 16, 2019, the Staff attorney, Don
Masson verbally suspended me from office
and had me escorted off our Pawnee land by
an armed tribal police officer.
On August 20, 2019, the Staff attorney reinstated me back to office.
On October 25, 2019, Justice prevailed, the
Pawnee District Court found that Staff attorney, Don Mason’s actions were ‘Unconstitutional.’ The District Court stated that he
lacked the authority to remove me from our
tribal land by an armed tribal police officer
and verbally suspend me from the office of the
President of the Pawnee Nation.
While our District Court has upheld the Constitution, a majority of the PBC have failed
to uphold the rule of law. Despite Treasurer
Thompson admitting to accepting fifty-five
alleged illegal payments, and the ruling of the
court against the Staff attorney Don Mason,
the majority of the Council, allows them to
continue to serve the Tribe. In a bewildering
move, the Pawnee Business Council passed a
retroactive law (back to 2016) to cover Staff
attorney Mason’s illegal actions and passed a
law to cover both Treasurer Thompson and
Staff attorney Don Mason’s attorney’s fees and
court costs.
Vice-President, Darrel Wildcat took it upon
himself to sign a contract with a Law firm and
to also sign the Resolution approving the hiring of the law firm.
The Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma Constitution, Article VI – Vacancies, Section,1 states,
In the event of a presidential vacancy, the Vice
President shall temporarily vacate their office
and fulfill the duties of the office of President
until another President is elected by a majority of Pawnee tribal voters in a specially called
election.
Section 10, states A position is vacant when:
(i) Resignation
(ii) Vacant pursuant to Article VII, Section one
(iii) Death
(iv) Recall
(v) Removal
(vi) Suspension
None of the six reasons above applied to the
President when the Vice-President by-passed
the Constitution.
I have no choice but to challenge the unlawful/unconstitutional actions of the Pawnee
Business Council in Tribal District Court.
The Pawnee Nation should be a Nation of
transparency, Integrity, honesty, and adherence to the Constitution and tribal laws. The
fact that Staff attorney Don Mason can violate
the Constitution and remain in office is a significant strain on our Tribe, and quite frankly puts our federal funding at risk. The same
applies to Council/ Treasurer Thompson, who
has broken her fiduciary trust to the people.
The individuals can resolve these issues by
simply stepping down from their positions
and letting the Tribe move on; when that does
not happen, the Pawnee Business Council
must do so; however, no such action has been
taken by the Council.
As your elected leader, I acted and will continue to look to the Tribal District Court and the
Tribal Supreme Court to interpret the Constitution, not the Pawnee Business Council.
As your elected President, my focus is to;
(a) Strive for professionalism within our
Tribal Departments.
(b) Support TERO to ensure that tribal members receive their rightful entitlements as
intended and required under the Tribal and
Federal Indian Preference employment law.
(c) Appoint tribal members to serve on Committees who support transparency.
(d) Restructure TDC and place TDC on a
budget.
(e) Use of a portion of our gaming revenue
to support the Tribal General Welfare Act of

2004, which excludes from taxable income
various general welfare payments to Pawnee
tribal members. This program offers veterans,
elders, heads of households, grade school children, high school children, and college students a tax-free payment. The program does
not affect any current tribal programs. No age
requirement or income restrictions like current tribal programs. This program will focus
on raising our standard of living and a better
quality of life for our Pawnee people.
(f) Support the Hemp industry
(g) Support the Gaming Commission
(h) Amend the Constitution giving the Nasharo Council the authority to approve all acts of
the Pawnee Business Council. The voice of
the Pawnee people will be heard through the
Nasharo Council.
Our Tribal government is meant to reflect
your voice and your will.
I am working on plans to achieve all of the
above. Please reach out to your elected council member and let your voice be heard that
we must move past such divisive conflict and
work toward a better future.
HOLIDAYS
There are many foods associated with the
holiday of Thanksgiving, including turkey,
cookies and our own; Frybread, meat pies,
corn soup, potato soup, stew, pumpkin, steam
fry, hominy/pork, fried pork, pinto beans,
blue bread, chicken and dumplings, blue corn
mush, and grape dumplings. Maybe you can
think of a few more.
CHRISTMAS
As we celebrate Christmas, we take time to remember the birth of Jesus Christ. In our cul-
ture, it’s a time for joy and happiness. Many
Powwows are held throughout Indian County
to celebrate Christmas. NAC meetings take
place to celebrate his birth and the coming of
a new year. Let’s remember our troops who
are on the front lines, in harm’s way for us to
enjoy those freedoms which we enjoy. Our
freedom is not free; within every Tribe was
a warrior who gave his all for his/her tribal
people!
Atius, I thank you for our survival, so our tribal ways can continue for generations to come
and be with us as we celebrate the upcoming
holidays with our loved ones. Keep us from

to introduce myself to those of
you who may not

ber me. My name
is Muriel Robedeaux, and I am the youngest
daughter of Wadsworth (Bacon) and Hilda
Howell. I was born and raised here in Pawnee
and graduated from Pawnee High School. I
am a full-blood member of the Pawnee Nation. Some of you may remember both of my
grandmothers, Cora Taylor and Harriet Howell. I have two grown daughters Julia of Oklahoma City and Monique of Pawnee. I am a
graduate of Oklahoma State University with a
BS in Education.
I have worked a total of at least 20 years for
the Pawnee Nation. I have served the tribe in
various capacities such as Education Director,
Grants & Contracts Director, and Coordina-
tor for several grants. My last position was
that of being the Administrative Affairs Director, who has direct oversight of the tribal
Communications, Enrollment, Procurement,
and the Information Technology Department. I have had the privilege of working
hand in hand with the Finance Office on the
development and negotiations of the Indirect
Cost Proposals and annual Budgets for the
Pawnee Nation. Before accepting the position
as Administrative Affairs Director, I had the
privilege of being involved in the design and
construction of 4 new facilities and the renovation of 9 facilities while I held the title of Indian Community Development Block Grant
Coordinator and grant writer. During my
tenure as the ICDBG Coordinator and grant
writer, I had administrated approximately 8
million dollars of construction funds, which
included funding resources such as HUD,
EDA, USDA, DOE, and Tribal. The renovat-
ed facilities included 5 facilities that required
adherence to Historic Preservation Guidelines. All four of the new facilities and one
renovated facility have the geothermal HVAC
mechanical system installed. Prior to administering HUD projects, I was selected to coordinate the design and construction of an
18-million-dollar Indian Health Center that
was completed in 2004.
Since being selected for the Executive Director position, I have been busy meeting with all
the division directors regarding their divisions
and the various projects they are working on.
The Charter School project is projected to begin its first class in the fall of 2020. The Pawnee Business Council just named the school
board for this charter school. The Transportation Program has also been very busy, and
their new road project is nearing completion,
and the ribbon cutting was held to open the
new street just north of the old armory on

Highway 18. In case you haven’t been out by
the tribe lately, then please stick around until early evening and see how the new lights
have made a big difference in lighting up the
tribal reserve going toward the roundhouse
from the War Mothers bridge. You can also
go north of the Trading Post on Morris Road
to see how bright the lights are now on that
road. Many thanks to the transportation program on getting these new lights and getting
that street open.
I remember growing up out here at the tribal
reserve after the boarding school was closed.
The house that I lived in was yellow, and it was
located where the parking lot of the Elders
center is currently located. There was a pear
tree in the front yard close to where the sidewalk ended. There was a set of stairs, and that
is where I caught the bus when I started grade
school in town. As a child, I remember waking up early in the morning, and daddy telling me to go outside and watch the sun come
up while he would finish cooking breakfast. I
would sit on those stairs and look across the
street looking at the spot where a roundhouse
would be built in the late 70’s or even looking at the hillside where cattle grazed, which
is now the location of the new health center
that opened in 2004. It is incredible to come
back to an area where you grew up and look
around and remember how things looked in
the late 50’s and early 60’s as opposed to how
it looks now as we get ready to enter 2020.
Several tribal workers grew up out here on
the tribal reserve and are currently employed
out here or now sit on the Pawnee Business
Council. Things have changed over the years,
with several improvements.
It is a privilege to be chosen by the Pawnee
Business Council to be the new Executive
Director. I look forward to working with the
council and the division directors to plan and
develop an even brighter future for the Pawnee people.

PAWNEE NATION TI-HARASA DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAM
Greetings from the Pawnee Nation Violence Against Women Program,
Ti-Harasa the Healing Center for Domestic and Sexual Violence. The
month of October was a busy time as it was Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The Pawnee Nation VAW staff participated in several activities to raise
awareness for victims of domestic violence and abuse. On October 1,
our staff attended the Native Alliance Against Violence, Day of Unity,
hosted by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. This event brought together
legal professionals, advocates, and victims who spoke about their experiences with domestic violence and abuse. They discussed effective
practices as well as changes that could help others in the future. The
Program Advocate and Prevention Specialist provided information regarding the programs available here at Ti-Harasa.
On October 3, we reinstated our Chu Rahikuts “Brave Women” survivor’s group. During this meeting, we sought ideas from attendees
regarding thoughts and ideas of what they feel would be beneficial and
inspiring to the lives of victims. We look forward to offering a monthly

The Program Advocate represented the Ti-Harasa Program in Cleveland at their annual Pioneer Day on October 5. She presented information to the community regarding services provided by our program
and answered questions for our booth attendees.

The Prevention Specialist attended the Southern Oaks Halloween Carnival on October 24. Program information was provided to the residents that highlighted elder abuse. A cornhole game was available to
those who wanted to play, candy, and other treats that were provided
for the children. A fun time was had by all!
The Pawnee Nation Fall Festival was held on Saturday, October 26,
2019. Our program had several items for the children, including candy, balloons, and several glow-in-the-dark items. We also provided
adult prizes such as ice scrapers, lip balm, and car scents, which were
a big hit!
The Pawnee Nation VAW Program would genuinely like to express
our appreciation and gratitude for the support we have received from
the Pawnee Nation staff, Pawnee Nation tribal members, and the community as a whole.

On October 19, the Pawnee Nation VAW program had the honor of
hosting the Six Nations Domestic Violence Walk, “Glowing the Distance Against Domestic Violence.” We were pleased to have our partners Native Alliance Against Violence attend our event as well as representatives from the Otoe-Missouria Tribe, Kaw Nation, Iowa Tribe
of Oklahoma, and the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma. We also received
support from the Osage Nation, Tonkawa Tribe, and Delaware Tribe;
unfortunately, they were unable to be present due to prior engagements. We are happy to announce that there were over 300 people in
attendance, “glowing” for victims and survivors of Domestic Violence.
The event highlighted legislation regarding domestic violence, and we
heard from Domestic Violence survivor, Billie Tohee, Legal Advocate
for the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma. There was plenty of fun and enter-

The Pawnee Nation Tribal Complex is changing. It has been one (1) year since the Pawnee Nation began the Enhancement
& Safety Projects using the innovative CM/GC construction method. During the year, we have completed Pirau Park expansion, Trading Post Re-Roof, Building 1 Demo work, and Re-Roof.
The rest of the projects are coming along nicely as well. On the ICDBG Ceremonial Campgrounds and Nature Fit
Trail, we have completed the electrical & water upgrades and the new bathroom & showers. The Fit Trail was heavily
damaged during the historic May 2019 flooding event, but the staff is working with FEMA to have reconstruction
completed around the end of December. The Dance Arbor is nearing completion, and a ribbon-cutting will
soon follow. CM/GC team is also working on a new innovative pedestrian bridge that will tie in the Nature Fit
Trail and the Ceremonial Campgrounds. The new pedestrian bridge will only be the 2nd bridge of this type
built in the entire United States.
The Pawnee Nation Tribal Complex received a facelift the past few months with the roads
being Fog Sealed and restriped. New Directional signs went up around the complex to help
guide our visitors to their destinations. A sidewalk was added to Morris road to connect the
Trading Post to the Roamchief Event Center. Also, new decorative LED streetlights on
Catlett Road, Morris Road, and Heritage Circle
have been installed, and during the holidays’ festive banners will be going up.

RIBBON-CUTTING FOR THE 1ST STREET SAFETY PROJECT
Recently there was a ribbon-cutting for the
1st Street Safety Project. The project was
constructed through a partnership between
the Pawnee Nation Department of Transportation, Pawnee Nation Housing Authority, and the City of Pawnee. The project provides for a safe turnaround for school buses,
safe intersection for pedestrians & vehicles
at Highway 64/18, sidewalks, and decorative
streetlights.
Very soon, the Pawnee Nation will have

Mothers Bridge and the “Green” Bridge. The
four (4) welcome signs will be adorned with
four (4) bronze wolves. The signs will be a
wonderful addition as you enter the tribal
complex.

Nawa! It’s our privilege to provide you with the Pawnee Nation Substance Abuse Program (SAP), Methamphetamine Suicide Prevention
Initiative (MSPI), and Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) Program updates! We sponsored many events within our community these past
few months, and we’re eager to fill you in on everything we’ve accomplished! It’s such a blessing being able to reach the community of
Pawnee with engaging relationships as well as providing awareness on
drug and alcohol-related issues. We look back with gratitude for the
opportunities we’ve had to serve our community as well as looking
forward eagerly to the future opportunities to continue to do the same.
We observed Red Ribbon Week from October 23-30, where we promoted and recognized the fight against drugs with our Pawnee community. Our SAP staff packed and filled bags for the Pawnee Public
School students with drug prevention items that were both educational as well as fun for the children to enjoy! Throughout the year, we also
provide professional speakers that will come to the schools and share
their messages with the students. These opportunities enable us the
time to learn more about the children in our community and share
positive experiences with them as they grow and learn!
One of the most enjoyable events was on October 23 as we had our

Pawnee to raise awareness and stand against drugs! It was so incredibly awesome to see how the young, lively faces expressed excitement
and joy during this walk we took together! It’s moments like these that
bring hope and encouragement to our community!
CHR/HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM UPDATE
The CHR/Health Education Program hosted several events over the
last quarter in collaboration with other Division of Health and Community Service Programs. These wellness events provide fun and
healthy activities for the community. We strive to incorporate some
type of event once or more per quarter-without the help from fellow
DHCS programs, the community, and most importantly, the participants, these events would not be successful.
October served as a very busy month with several action-packed community events, including Fall Festival and Passionate for Pink Breast
Cancer Awareness Event. Fall Festival was a huge success, and we had
approximately 300 people show up and participate in the trunk or
treat. We also had organizations that provided popcorn and hotdogs,
and the CHR/HE put up the bouncy houses for an
additional kids’ activity. Many programs from the
Pawnee Nation came out to support setting up a
trunk or treat display, or volunteered in some other way. The CHR/HE Program also did a Breast
Cancer awareness walk for all tribal employees
and challenged them to wear the most pink to
show support. The “most pink” dressed employee
was Danielle Wheatley.

SOUTHERN OAKS HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL
On October 24, 2019, Pawnee Nation Departments, including the TiHirasa Domestic Violence Program, Division of Health & Community
Services Director, Indian Child Welfare Program, and the Executive
Office set up games at the Southern Oaks Halloween Carnival. The
departments gave out candy and prizes to the residents, kids, and
families. The Southern Oaks Halloween Carnival is the 4th year that
Pawnee Nation has participated in the annual community event.
There were over 100+ people who attended the carnival. If you have
any time, please feel free to stop by and visit the residents at Southern
Oaks; there are several of our tribal members who reside there, and
they would love to visit.
COMMUNITY NEWS
On November 11, 2019, Francis Morris
was one of (11) residents at Southern Oaks
Nursing Home to be recognized at their 1st
Annual Veterans Day Program. Each veteran
received a certificate of appreciation, framed
artwork, and a bag of goodies.
NOVEMBER WAS DIABETES
AWARENESS MONTH!
On November 6, 2019, the Diabetes Program
hosted the Pawnee Nation Employee’s Poker Run/Walk. The program, along with a few
Wellness Committee Members, handed out
playing cards to those that participated. Each
participant had (30) minutes to try to earn the
best Poker Hand and was able to collect a new
card with each lap completed around the Little
Dee Circle (about 1/8 of a mile). Participants
could do additional laps to change out playing cards for a better hand. Winners were: 1st
place-Kyla Wichita, 2nd place-Chris Pratt, and
3rd place-Amy Kinzie.
A huge thank you to volunteers and to the employees that participated in the event.
The Diabetes Program hosted a World Diabetes Day Luncheon for Pawnee Nation Employees with guest speakers from the Pawnee
Indian Health Center, Public Health Nursing
and Health Education Department. The event
educated and brought awareness of the issues
and treatment of Diabetes.
The Diabetes Program promotes the delivery
of supportive, interactive, and educational
services for Native Americans with the risk
factors of developing and/or with the
diagnosis of Diabetes. We intend to
improve the quality of life for Native
Americans by implementing Physical
Activity/Education as our best practice. Our focus is on prevention and
prolonging Diabetes within one’s self.

PAWNEE CORN SLOWLY MAKING A COMEBACK

SHELTON — There were more Pawnee
corn rescues this year, despite weather
that made every growing season task
from seed germination to harvest difficult.
Ronnie O’Brien of rural Shelton, leader of
the Nebraska growers of Pawnee crops,
said kernels of two corn varieties thought
to be extinct were found on recently harvested ears.
Her sister Tina Smith of St. Libory has
some red-speckled kernels on white flour
corn ears.
“For the first time, we have beautiful
(red) speckled kernels,” O’Brien said, as
well as some solid red kernels of red flour
corn on white flour corn ears. “Red flour
corn has been in trouble, too. It seems to
always fail when we plant it.”
O’Brien described her sister’s site as “one
of those experimenting gardens” in which
something that hasn’t grown in the past
works in a different place.
The other back-from-extinction Pawnee
corn will be announced at today’s (Saturday) Fall Harvest Reveal in Pawnee,
Okla., when husks are removed from all
Nebraska-grown corn.
O’Brien said the unusual kernels first were
seen in some white flour corn last fall.
They appeared again this year in Hastings and Kearney gardens. She believes
it’s a variety that may not have been seen
for 200 years.
Her reference book, “Corn Among the Indians of The Upper Missouri” by George
Will and George Hyde, says it had been
extinct for 100 years by the time the book
was published in 1915-16.
O’Brien provided updates on other 2019
corn varieties grown in Nebraska, gathered Thursday at Fort Kearny State Historical Park and delivered to Pawnee,
Okla., for the reveal and other special
events this weekend.
Mother corn
The oldest varieties, mother corn and
eagle corn, are thought to have been
brought from Central America by Pawnee
ancestors in the 1200s, O’Brien said.
“We’ve always had mother corn in our
(sacred) bundles,” said Pawnee Keeperof-the-Seeds Deb Echo-Hawk.
Recovery started when O’Brien noticed
mother corn kernels on four small ears
of white flour corn grown at The Archway
east of Kearney when she was the museum’s cultural education director.
O’Brien gave the ears to Echo-Hawk.
A member of the Arikara Nation, which is
culturally related to the Pawnee, came to
Echo-Hawk in 2017 to ask about mother
corn.
“They look like a white candle,” O’Brien
said about mother corn’s long, thin,
straight ears.
Echo-Hawk said she gave the four ears
with mother corn kernels to the Arikara
man. “We had a special blessing done
in Arikara country in an earth lodge that
was built on top of an old earth lodge
site,” she said.
This year, 800 seeds were planted by Marlan and Sherrie Ideus of Amherst. O’Brien
said most 2019 ears were harvested in
their husks ahead of the Oct. 10 freeze.
On Friday, the Ideuses drove their pickup
to Pawnee, with seven laundry baskets
full of mother corn.

Yellow kernels have been seen in white
flour corn for years, but gardeners didn’t
realize at first that they were yellow flour
corn showing up as a recessive trait.
O’Brien said yellow flour corn was the
one that “spoke to us” to pay more attention to anomalies that could be recessive
genes being expressed.
This is the first year to have enough kernels gathered to grow yellow flour corn
from yellow flour corn seeds. Pat Hogeland of Franklin planted 420 seeds of
which 180 germinated and grew.

Flint corn is used to make hominy.
O’Brien said recovery is slow because flint
corn kernels don’t store well. One reason
is their thick seed coatings don’t allow
enough air for the seed heart.
Approximately 25 seeds were planted at
each of three locations — Amherst, Aurora and Omaha — this year. “Twenty-five at
a time is about all we are doing,” O’Brien
said.

The Arikara man then distributed the four
ears. The one he returned to Echo-Hawk
was sent to O’Brien for planting.
It is being grown only in Oklahoma and
is doing well.
“It was a rescue that came out of that
little white ear Deb sent to me,” O’Brien
said, adding that all the seeds she planted in 2018 in two rows grew and were
perfect.

Timothy Riley Fields took his heavenly journey home on October 20, 2019, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Tim was born
January 4, 1960, to Louvenia Alice Fields and Walter Allen Phillips Sr and then later adopted by his grandparents
Esther Mae Murray and Ezra Tilden Fields Sr. Timothy was known by Tim by most of this family and friends. He
grew up in Perkins, Oklahoma, where he attended school at Perkins-Tryon High school, where he graduated with
accomplishments in Football and Track.
Tim worked for the City of Stillwater for many years until moving to Lawton, where he worked as a Senior Equipment Operator for the City. He loved working, fishing, hunting, and camping. He loved coming back to Pawnee,
Oklahoma, for the Pawnee Indian Veterans Homecoming, where he would camp with his family.
Tim is survived by his daughters Louvenia and Kayleigh Fields, and three sons Jeremiah, Joshua, and Tony; also
survived by 3 biological brothers; Michael Wayne, Walter Allen Jr, and Wade. Tim also has many adopted brothers and sisters, along with
numerous relatives. Tim’s pride and joy were his 6 grandchildren.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one daughter Latisha Fields. Donations can be sent in memory of Timothy to the
Perkins-Tryon Alumni Association.

Lois graduated from Laney College in Oakland, California, with her BA in nursing. She worked as an RN and provided home health care until she retired. She was a community activist and helped start many programs for less
fortunate individuals and the Hispanic community. She was a member of Life Church Tabernacle in Oakland, CA.
Her biggest achievement was raising her 7 children, 25 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and helping raise
many other children. Lois leaves behind a legacy of remaining close as a family.
She is survived by her 7 children: Gina and her husband Christopher Baptist Sr of Oakland, CA, Tamala Wilson of
Oklahoma City, James Dave Wilson Jr. and wife Karen of Edmond, OK, Jamie Wilson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Donavan

AARP RECOGNIZES NATIVE ELDERS AT 11TH ANNUAL
INDIAN ELDER HONORS
Richard Tilden is a full-blooded member of the Pawnee
Tribe. He attended high
school at Haskell Institute in
Lawrence, Kanas. Mr. Tilden earned associate degrees
in Business Administration
and Gaming Administration
from
Deganawidah-Quetzalcoatl University in Davis,
California. He also earned a
Bachelor of Arts in Business
Administration from Haskell
Indian Nations University in
Lawrence, Kansas.
Mr. Tilden spent his career
dedicated to working for the
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He served as an investigator
with the Office of Resolution Management. In this role, Mr. Tilden
investigated claims of discrimination as defined under Employment
Equal Opportunity guidelines. With only 138 total investigators, Mr.
Tilden had the highest resolution rate among all investigators across
the United States.
Mr. Tilden’s leadership roles include service as president for the Oklahoma Haskell Alumni Association, past member of the Pawnee Business Council, past member of the Deganawidah-Quetzalcoatl University board of directors, U.S. Marine Corps Historical Foundation
board of directors and vice president of National Active and Retired
Federal Employees Association - Local 278 in Tulsa. Mr. Tilden is also
active in supporting Vietnam veteran organizations.

PAWNEE TRIBAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
As 2019 closes, Pawnee Tribal Development Corporation (PTDC)
is wrapping up a year that was devoted to rebuilding. And as 2020
begins, PTDC is dedicated to its’ purpose, “to create revenue, create
employment opportunities, and promote economic development”
for the nation.
RENOVATIONS. Renovations at the Pawnee Nation Casino &
Trading Post have begun with the addition of a new paved parking
lot. There has been very little re-investment into the tribally owned
building in well over a decade. With a new heat and air system,
fresh paint, and a raised gaming floor, the atmosphere will be greatly
improved as a fresh and inviting place for guests to come and play.
CUSTOMER SERVICE. PTDC leadership intent on improving
customer service has partnered with Purpose and Performance
Group to lead the entire employee team in a comprehensive
customer service and leadership development program. When
determining the best course to take to ensure the training was the
best fit for the organization, it became evident that in order to
improve customer service, it was vital to improve employee
morale. This intensive training will provide a real opportunity
for individual growth for employees. In order to maximize the
effectiveness of this training, a sustainable program will reinforce
and ultimately create a lasting positive company culture. This
motivating internal training initiative will kick off at the first of
the year.
GROWTH. In 2015, PTDC purchased 20 acres of land adjacent
to the property where StoneWolf Casino is located. The lengthy
process of putting the land into trust began shortly thereafter.
In November, after a more than four-year process, PTDC was
notified by the BIA that trust status was granted. While concrete
plans have not yet been determined for the land, this property,
which is located directly north of StoneWolf Casino will open
options for commercial growth.
Looking forward to 2020, the keyword for PTDC is growth.
