Proposed Collection; Comment Request
AGENCY: Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel (DAPE-ZXI-RM), U.S. Army.
ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: In compliance with Section 3506(c)(2)(A) of the Paperwork
Reduction Act of 1995, the Department of the Army announces a proposed
public information collection and seeks public comment on the
provisions thereof. Comments are invited on: (a) whether the proposed
collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of
the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall
have practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the agency's estimate of
the burden of the proposed information collection; (c) ways to enhance
the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected;
and (d) ways to minimize the burden of the information collection on
respondents, including through the use of automated collection
techniques or other forms of information technology.
DATES: Consideration will be given to all comments received by December
22, 1997.

information collection should be sent to Department of the Army and Air
Force National Guard Bureau, 111 South George Mason Drive, Arlington,

Title: Research to Develop a Profile of Army National Guard
Members.
Needs and Uses: This research will be a mail survey among Army
National Guard members. The research will assist the Army National
Guard (ARNG) in making the most effective use of its public relations,
advertising and marketing budget for recruiting efforts. The research
will help the ARNG and its advertising agency prioritize activities,
focus their messages and understand the various segments of Guard
members.
Affected Public: Individual or Households.
Annual Burden Hours: 1500.
Number of Respondents: 6000.
Responses Per Respondent: 1.
Average Burden Per Response: 15 minutes.
Frequency: On occasion.
SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The public relations, advertising and
marketing activities can have a significant impact on recruiting and
retention of Guard members. Recruiting and retention have been areas of
concern in recent years for the Army National Guard. This research will
assist the Army National Guard in making the most effective use of its
budget for public relations, advertising and marketing activities.
