Annual Survey of Manufactures

The Annual Survey of Manufactures collects industry statistics such

as total value of shipments, employment, payroll, workers hours,

capital expenditures, cost of materials consumed, supplemental labor

costs, and so forth. This survey, while conducted on a sample basis,

covers all manufacturing industries, including data on plants under

major data obtained in this survey include total R&D expenditures by

source of funds, the number of scientists and engineers employed, the

amounts spent for pollution abatement and energy R&D for comparative

purposes, the total net sales, receipts and employment of the company.
