The areas described aggregate 9,673.34 acres in Owyhee County.

The purpose of the proposed withdrawal is to protect the Mountain

Home Air Force Base Enhanced Training in Idaho site.

This withdrawal will be authorized under the Act of February 28,

1958, 43 U.S.C. 155-158 and requires legislative action by Congress.

For a period of 90 days from the date of publication of this

notice, all persons who wish to submit comments, suggestions, or

objections in connection with the proposed withdrawal may present their

views in writing to the Idaho State Director at the address shown

above.

Notice is hereby given that a public meeting in connection with the

proposed withdrawal will be held at a later date. A notice of the time

and place will be published in the Federal Register and three

newspapers in the general vicinity of the lands to be withdrawn at

least 30 days before the scheduled date of the meeting.

This application will be processed in accordance with the

regulations set forth in 43 CFR 2300.

For a period of two years from the date of publication of this

notice in the Federal Register, the lands will be segregated as

specified above unless the application is denied or canceled or the

withdrawal is approved prior to that date. The temporary land uses that

will be permitted during this segregative period are rights-of-way,

leases, permits, licenses or discretionary land use authorizations that

do not significantly disturb the surface of the land or impair values

of the resources, but will be coordinated with the Installation

Commander, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

The temporary segregation of the lands in connection with this

withdrawal application shall not affect administration over the lands,

and the segregation shall not have the effect of authorizing any use of

the lands by the Department of the Air Force.

Dated: April 2, 1996.

J. David Brunner,

Deputy State Director for Resource Services Division.
