National Medal of Technology

AGENCY: Office of Technology Policy, Technology Administration, U.S.

Department of Commerce.

ACTION: Notice of Request for Nominations.

SUMMARY: This notice announces that the Department of Commerce will

accept nominations of individuals, teams of up to four individuals, and

companies for the 1995 National Medal of Technology. Nominations close

October 31, 1994.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Mandated by Congress and awarded annually by

the President of the United States, the National Medal of Technology is

our country's highest honor for achievements in technological

innovation and commercialization. This prestigious award is given to

American individuals, teams, and U.S.-owned companies whose

technological innovations have significantly contributed to American

competitiveness, job creation, economic prosperity, and a higher

standard of living.

An individual nominee for the National Medal of Technology must be

a U.S. citizen. A team nomination can consist of up to four U.S.

citizens. A U.S.-owned company nominee must have more than 50 percent

of its shares or assets owned by U.S. citizens.
