Notice of Lodging of Proposed Consent Decree Under the Clean Water Act
On July 3rd, 2013, the Department of Justice lodged a proposed consent decree with the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas in the lawsuit entitled
United States
v.
Great Lakes Chemical Company,
Civil Action No. 1:13-cv-01058-SOH.
The United States filed this lawsuit under the Clean Water Act. The United States' complaint seeks injunctive relief and civil penalties for discharges of pollutants, in violation of Section 301 of the Clean Water Act, at property located southwest of the city of El Dorado, Arkansas. The consent decree requires the defendant to perform injunctive relief and pay a $300,000 penalty.
The publication of the notice opens a period for public comment on the consent decree. Comments should be addressed to the Assistant Attorney General, Environment and Natural Resources Division, and should refer to
