ABSTRACT
This is a directory of approximately 150 government agencies designed to assist
congressional staff in contacting agencies of the legislative branch, cabinet departments and
other executive branch agencies and boards and commissions. This directory contains
names of congressional liaison officers, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and
occasionally e-mail addresses. It is regularly updated each spring. A related CRS product
is “Where To Get Publications from the Executive and Independent Agencies: A Directory
of Sources for Official Documents”, CRS Report 97-129 C. This guide is revised by CRS
yearly.

Summary
This list of about 150 congressional liaison offices is intended to help
congressional offices in placing telephone calls and addressing correspondence to
government agencies. In each case, the information was supplied by the agency itself
and is current as of the date of publication. Entries are arranged alphabetically in
three sections: legislative branch; executive branch; and agencies, boards, and
commissions. When looking for a particular agency, we suggest using the
alphabetical index at the back of this document, since the organizational affiliation
of each agency may not be readily apparent.
Specific telephone numbers for correspondence, publications, and fax
transmissions have been provided for each applicable agency. When using fax, it is
important to include the entire mailing address on a cover sheet, as many of the listed
fax machines are not directly located in the liaison offices.
A few agencies included their e-mail address as well. When e-mailing agencies
please remember to include your name, affiliation, phone number, and return address,
to ensure a speedy response. Users should be aware that e-mail is not a confidential
means of transmission.
As a time-saving device, the main telephone number for each agency has been
listed in the index.
Entry listing pages have been designed to afford space for users to revise and
update (as needed) through the year if names, titles, or phone numbers change.
