## Text

These rules are promulgated under the authority Medical Practice
 Act Title 3, Subtitle B, Tex. Occ. Code and the Licensed Perfusionist
 Act, Texas Occupations Code Annotated Chapter 603. The purpose of
 these rules is to establish procedures and standards for the training,
 education, licensing, and discipline of persons performing perfusion
 in this state so as to establish an orderly system of regulating the
 practice of perfusion in a manner which protects the health, safety,
 and welfare of the public. Nothing in these rules and regulations
 shall be construed to relieve the supervising or ordering physician
 of the professional or legal responsibility for the care and treatment
 of his or her patients. In addition, nothing in these rules and regulations
 shall be construed to require licensure as a perfusionist for those
 individuals who are exempted, under §603.004 of the Act.
