Elouise Cobell filed a class action lawsuit against the Federal Government on behalf of all Native people and the Cobell Scholarship was
included in the terms of the settlement and Indigenous Education,
Inc was formed to administer scholarships.
The scholarship is annual, non-renewable, and available to any fulltime and degree-seeking American Indian or Alaska Native post-secondary student attending any nationally, regionally and industry
accredited non-profit, public and private, institution while pursuing
a vocational certificate or diploma, associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s,
doctoral, professional degree or certificate.
