ACTION: Notice.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY: This notice withdraws the notice requesting public comments on
information collection requirements for the Requirements for
Notification, Evaluation and Reduction of Lead-Based Paint Hazards in
Federally Owned Housing and Housing Receiving Federal Assistance. The
notice requesting public comments was published in error.

FOR FURTHER INFORMATION CONTACT: Steve Weitz, Department of Housing and
Urban Development, 451 7th Street, SW, Room P-3206, Washington, DC
20410, telephone (202) 755-1785, ext. 106. This is not a toll-free

the Requirements for Notification, Evaluation and Reduction of Lead-
Based Paint Hazards in Federally Owned Housing and Housing Receiving
Federal Assistance (``Requirements''). This notice was published in
error and therefore is withdrawn. The 60-day public comment request on
the information collection requirements will be published when the
final rule for the Requirements are published. Publication concurrently
with the final rule will allow the public to better comment on the
estimated burden. HUD expects that the requirements of the final rule
that are subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act will have a delayed
effective date that will provide sufficient time for public comment.
HUD also expects that this final rule will be published within the next
few weeks.

Dated: April 29, 1999.

Assistant General for Regulations.
