INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE oF

‘THE “SCHEDULE?

For certain Federal misdeneanor and petty offence charges
Listed in the “Schedule,” asfendants in the Western District of
Washington have the option to pay a fixed aum to the Clerk of

Court instead of appearing in court. If a defendant makes such
‘A payment timaly, that amount is forfeited: defendant need not

appear in court; and the case is close’.

‘The Court has adopted this “Schedule” listing all
nisdemeancr offenses and petty offense for which a defendant
hag that option and also listing all petty offanse and

nindeneanors that require «

ndutory appearance. An officer
who jagues a citation or violation notice should he certain how

the offense charged is treated in the “Schedule"+

Rule 4(a) of the "Rules of Procefure for the Trial of

Misdemeanors Before United States Magiatrates.” In the Western

District of Washington, the full-time United states Magistrates
are authorized to establish and, from time to time, amend the
“echeduie” by Local Rule UR 9(4).

Suggested modifications or additions to the “schedule” and
questions about its use should be presented in writing to the
Chief of the Complaints Section, United States Attorney's
