## Shepard's versus an automated citator

Shepard's has been telling lawyers whether a case is still good since the 1870s, and its signals are checked by editors. Frix's citator does the same job by reading the public record: it finds every later opinion that cites the case, shows you the sentence it was cited in, and flags negative treatment. It is faster to get to and free, and it will occasionally be wrong in ways an editor would catch, which is why the citing sentence is always one click away. ## Research that starts from your file

Lexis+ AI is a very good search box with an assistant attached. Donna is an assistant that already has your file open. Editorial secondary sources. If your practice leans on treatises and practice guides, Lexis has decades of them and Frix has none. Coverage of state administrative codes is partial in Frix today. And Lexis's judicial analytics products go far deeper than Frix's judge profiles, which are built from the public record of opinions, positions and financial disclosures.
